Images are by the staff in China. Thank you so much for taking these incredible pix!! He is absolutely adorable!!

Below is an update on Fei Fei’s cub who we have proudly nicknamed “Yan Yan” or Eternal Flame!!!:

“Fei Fei’s cub can walk now. When it wakes up, it will move its body and crawl. When its mother is sitting aside, it tries to crawl to the mother and look for nipples to drink milk. It weighs 4600 g 80 days after its birth and 5800 g on its 100-day birth. It develops well and grows healthily.”

CARRIE WRITES TO ME TODAY:
Hi Sandra,

Well, get ready to smile and laugh! Here are pictures of your beautiful girl Jing Shui. I know the English part of her name is Peaceful Water but she doesn’t look very peaceful to me…she looks very full of energy Plus, she looks like a little escape artist! Adorable! Seeing the panda pictures is one of the best parts of my work day and always makes me smile.

NEWS FLASH…added 1/2 hour later!!

Hi Sandra,

Here is an update on Jing Shui. I didn’t correct the English on this update and you can see that the word “it” is used rather than the word “she”. I’m told the Chinese language does not make the same gender distinction that we do. This is always a challenge when trying to figure out whether a panda is a male or female! Of course, we know that Ying Ying’s cub is a female.

You can send the update to your adopters as it is or correct it as you like.

Ying Ying’s baby can walk and play independently, especially like climbing the fence.  it is always trying to climb high and often slide down the fence. however, it never feels the pain, only running to its mother to look for affection, which makes it very happy.

YIPPIE!!!  I finished all 4 cub journal pages today.  From here on in I will be able to update the cub’s progress and photos on each of their personal pages.  Please let me know if you find images of any of the cubs or stories and I will add them to the pages.

The wonderful images we have so far don’t come to us easily.  It takes some real detective work on the part of our panda loving friends and China news sources as well as a lot of snooping around on the internet and Flickr to see who has been to the panda breeding centers with their cameras to gather all these pix

Thank you to everyone who has submitted photos and videos so far of our babies. They make the entire adoptions all the more special to see our panda cubs growing up before our eyes.

On my 2009 trip scheduled back to China, I will take all sorts of pix of our cubs to add as well as the stories that inevitably will go with them!!  Future shared adoptions and sponsorships through PROJECT PANDA will have their own pages as well
